    Of course they're at an impasse. The UK has a list of demands and absolutely no bargaining position. The EU requires that the UK fulfil its obligations to pay for things they agreed to in the past and that there be a hard border between the Irelands -- two perfectly reasonable requirements that the UK won't accept.

    This hilariously outlines the total ignorance on behalf of the British public (and by extension, its government) of it's obligations under treaties they've already signed and the obvious truths of geography.

    There are two options: exit with no deal and suffer a crippling (and self-inflicted) economic penalty, or give up on the whole idea and just bend to the EU's requirements.
